What changed

Indiana’s complaint, No. 29D01-2605-PL-005581, was filed in Hamilton Superior Court on May 6, 2026, and announced the next day. It is brought under the Indiana Deceptive Consumer Sales Act, Ind. Code § 24-5-0.5-1 and following.

Texas filed its petition against Discord in the 199th District Court of Collin County, Cause No. 199-03546-2026, on May 22, 2026, under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

On July 20, 2026, the Texas court signed an agreed temporary injunction. The order states that it “does not adjudicate, and Discord does not admit, any allegation, liability, or wrongdoing.” According to the Attorney General, it gives Discord 90 days to apply age assurance and default safety settings for Texas users. Trial is set for June 7, 2027.

What it means

Both are consumer-protection suits. They turn on what the companies told parents about safety, rather than on content users posted.

Money a state recovers funds state programs; it does not compensate individual families.

Discord said the suits do not reflect “the platform we have built or the investments we have made in user safety” (Texas Tribune). Roblox said it shares “Attorney General Rokita’s commitment to helping keep children safe online” (WISH-TV).
